“If we do not speak for earth, who will? If we are not committed to our own survival, who will be?” These are questions that are crucial at this time in history when we possess the means to destroy the planet as well as soar beyond its confines. If we look back at our planet from a distance in space, it appears as a beautiful blue and white planet with no apparent boundaries. Such a perspective makes human differences seem trivial. One can only hope that someday we have a “Pledge of Allegiance to our species and to other species and environmental factors upon which our existence depends.
