American popular music in the United States was Characterized by the dominance of swing, big band jazz, and boogie-woogie. This energetic and danceable music became a defining sound of the era. Many songs also focused on themes of love, separation, and homecoming, as well as patriotic sentiments. In this class we'll listen to many great songs of the WWII era and learn about the big bands that produced this classic sound. Instructor: Dan Baker
