When Edgar Allen Poe died on October 7, 1949 he left behind over 75 short stores and poems, 15 of which we choose to remember. He also carried with him to the grave the memories of a tragic childhood, the loss of his mother and his wife, and the feeling of being a failure at everything he attempted. Today, we regard him as one of the greatest literary talents of all time, often hailed as the "Father of the Modern Detective Story," and the "Master of Gothic Horror." We will delve into the mysteries of Poe's stories and poems including his most baffling unsolved mystery of all, his death! Then, we'll watch the 2012 movie, "The Raven", starring John Cusack, a fictionalized account of Poe's death at the young age of 40. We may also look at it through the eyes of the Paranormal. Who knows what we may find? Instructor: Kent & Janet McClary
