The word Apache struck absolute terror into the hearts and minds of pioneering settlers in the 19th century American Southwest and Northern Mexico. Today the name is often used to emphasize fierce fighting as in the Army's Apache attack helicopter. The Apache are known for their strong warrior culture, fierce resistance to westward expansion by the U.S. government, and their unique adaptations to the Southwest environment. A raiding people, they were known for stealth and brutality. There are 13 different Apache tribes recognized in the United States today. These tribes are primarily located in Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. In this class we'll learn about Apache history, their culture and famous leaders. Instructor: Dan Baker
Fee: $20.00
